George A. Aitken, Esquire, Emeritus
George graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1995 with Honors and was inducted into the Order of the Coif (for top 10% graduates). George entered the legal profession in 1990 as a law clerk for an insurance defense litigation firm where he continued to work during law school. Prior to law school, George worked in the medical electronics industry as the quality assurance & test department manager for a regional electronics manufacturing company while earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Adelphi University, Summa Cum Laude.
George’s legal practice spans all aspects of the preservation and transmission of family wealth from simple wills to highly complex estate tax strategies for clients with net worth exceeding one hundred million dollars. He has represented a diversity of clients concerning estate planning, closely-held businesses, business succession planning, estate and trust administration, tax planning, tax compliance and tax controversies. For his clients, George prepares income tax returns for individuals, trusts and estates, in addition to inheritance tax returns, estate tax returns and gift tax returns. If a tax problem arises, George represents clients before federal and state taxing authorities to provide an effective resolution of the issues.
George has extensive experience with the administration of decedents’ estates, including probate assets, non-probate assets, and retirement assets. In addition to counseling individual and institutional clients with these matters, he also assists with the estate, gift, inheritance and income taxation issues that are frequently encountered by trustees & executors. George also brings his wealth of experience to assist clients with family wealth controversies regarding estate and trust administration, will contests, trust reformations and other fiduciary matters, such as guardianships.
